As historic motorsport grids go, this one is pretty dreamy, with Porsche 356s, Lotus Elites, Austin Healey 3000s, Jaguar E-types and a few more. But the real star of the show is our protagonist, this 1964 Shelby Cobra 289, driven by Christophe Van Riet.

The Belgian driver was competing in the Dix Mille Tours du Castellet event at the Circuit Paul Ricard when he performed this brilliant string of overtakes, passing not one, not two but nine opponents in a screeching, sideways qualifying lap of the sun-soaked circuit. Join Van Riet onboard as he makes a mockery of the rest of the Sixties Endurance grid during qualifying, a performance that earned him a fifth place start. Unfortunately, however, despite this display of driving dexterity, Van Riet failed to finish in the main event.
The Dix Mille Tours event took place over the weekend of the 25th-26th July, kickstarting the 2020 Peter Auto season after a long delay caused by COVID-19. And boy are we glad to see it back!
