Every all-time great has to get their start somewhere. Michael Schumacher, associated as he is with the Scuderia, wore blue and green before red and white. His debut car also happens to be, we think, one of the prettiest Formula 1 cars ever made. It is of course the 1991 Jordan 191. And one of the seven made, and two that Schumacher drove, is for sale. This incredibly historically significant car could be yours for £1.25million.

Most significantly, this car was Schumacher’s seat for his first ever Grand Prix, at Spa in 1991. The story of that drive is legend. A prison stint for Bertrand Gachot is the only reason Schumacher lined up at Spa in the Jordan in 1991.
It was a twist of fate that would arguably define the next two decades of F1 history and hints as to Schumacher’s potential were there from the off. With zero experience at Spa and in an unproven car, Schumacher managed to qualify the car in seventh, ahead of Andrea de Cesaris, his more experienced teammate.

Schumacher didn’t even finish a single lap in the actual race but he’d already done enough. That one-off drive had Benetton knocking and the rest is history. That history began right here, with this Jordan 191.
As for the rest of its life? It was in a Belgian car collection until 2005 before moving on and campaigned in the Boss F1 series. It’s also been to the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard a few times. The car is presented from Speedmasters with everything needed to get it running and is happily running, having last driven at Donington this year for a demo during the Masters Historic race weekend. As a car with a one-of-a-kind history that you can actually use, this 191 is hard to beat.
