You don’t hear about this kind of thing very often. A Formula 1 car that has been modified to such an extent that it is now recognisable as a sportscar. You certainly wouldn’t see the like nowadays, but in 1959, Jack Brabham, known for his keen interest in engineering and driving for Cooper in Formula 1 at the time, bought himself a Cooper T45 Grand Prix car and transformed it into this T49 Monaco streamliner.

It's a quite remarkable car that raced extensively during 1959, including here at Goodwood, and we enjoyed watching it return to the Motor Circuit at the 2021 Revival, and hearing more about its history. We imagine there are few cars that have had quite so many big names behind the wheel as this one: Jack Brabham and Bruce McLaren to name but two.
