When it comes to Group C Jaguars, the temptation is to go on about the XJR-9, its V12 and the glory of the Silk Cut livery and Le Mans. Come to think of it, especially on the V12 point, I do. But let’s remember for a moment that the XJR story is of a years-long endeavour with many variants, engines, liveries and different series. So let’s take a moment to look at – and listen to – this XJR-10, with its turbocharged V6, Castrol livery and a driver you might have heard of.

His name’s Zak, he’s CEO of McLaren and he really, really loves cars. Race-winning cars. That’s the criteria for a car to be in his collection: it has to have won. As we know from our interview with Zak about this car, it raced in IMSA and won five races between 1989 and 1991. In spite of not having those 12 pots behind, the savagery of that turbocharged V6 producing more than 850PS (625kW) is difficult to deny.
