Volkswagen-Audi Group’s domination of endurance racing looks set to step up in 2015, with Lamborghini taking on in-house GT3 rivals from Audi and Bentley. The Huracan GT3 had its first test recently at the Vallelunga circuit near Rome, with testing set to continue until the end next year before delivery of up to 26 customer cars takes place in 2015.
The racer will need to shed weight compared to the road-going Huracan to meet FIA regulations, which means a switch to two-wheel drive is likely. That would be in line with the Audi R8 LMS and Bentley Continental GT3, which race in the same Blancpain Endurance Series that Lamborghini plans to enter with a factory team.
But that’s next year. Right now, all we have to go on is this teaser video from Vallelunga.
