On track today: Charity supercar day (12/07)

A Koenigsegg Agera, a bright yellow Mercedes SLS, an even brighter green Lamborghini Aventador… and yet it was a brace of Tesla Model Ss that seemed to be attracting the most attention – in the paddock, at least. On track, it was whichever was loudest. And there was lots vying to be loudest.

Aeroplane spares company Saywell International organises three charity track days at Goodwood each year. They started around 20 years ago and have grown largely through word of mouth. All the cars are present on an invitational basis and anyone can make a donation for a passenger ride around the circuit.

Today’s event is raising money for the Sussex Snowdrop Trust, which provides care for children with terminal illnesses and support for their families. Each track day typically raises around £4000 to £7000, and it’s always for a local cause.

The next track day will be on Saturday 27th September. Make a note in your diary for some supercar hot laps in aid of a good cause.
