There can’t be too many petrolheads who haven’t heard of Mission Motorsport yet, but if you’re one of them the charity will need an introduction. Mission Motorsport works with recovering servicemen and women with a view to finding them work in the motorsport industry. While the cars and the sport have an obvious appeal, Mission Motorsport’s primary role is to help ex-soldiers re-engage with civilian life.
Days such as today (and, indeed, the similar event last September) are a useful tool in that direction. The relaxed, informal format makes it easy for those ex-soldiers who are new to the charity to get involved, before then going on the really benefit from what Mission Motorsport can offer.
And what it can offer is genuine careers, with a track record of getting people into roles within car manufacturers and racing teams. As well as engineers and drivers, there are also opportunities in project management, HR, events and others.
Today’s selection of cars has a distinctly Porsche theme with several 911s in attendance, but there is also a McLaren 12C, Caterhams, MX-5 racing cars, a Radical and others. They’re all in the gallery above, and you can read more about Mission Motorsport’s work here.
