Today is marked down in the diary as a general test day but, being so close to the 73rd Members’ Meeting, that really means only one thing: a chance for 73MM competitors to fine-tune, practise and prepare ahead of the big weekend. There was a 73MM-only test day last week and there will be another next week but, even so, the chance for more seat time has meant that Members’ Meeting competitors have dominated bookings for today.
A rather dampand slippery start to proceedings saw plenty of cars getting out of shape this morning, but that soon have way to clear skies and bright sunshine. The calm weather was punctuated by a short sharp sleet shower at around lunchtime, just to keep things interesting.
Not that the wide variety of machinery on track had any trouble holding our interest. When was the last time you saw a Maserati ‘Birdcage’ and a Mini sharing track space? One of the two Minis present was being pedalled by BTCC driver Andrew Jordan, and we also saw Tim Harvey in the paddocks today, too.
The gallery above shows our pick of the machinery, with everything from single-seaters to thunderous Lola T70s. The weekend of 20th/21st March can’t come soon enough…
