No matter how cool modern motorsport gets, there’ll always be a large faction of fans that cry out ‘things were better in the old days.’ Now that may indeed be true, mainly due to that added element of danger, but times have changed and that’s just not the way of the world… or so we thought.
Video: This Hummer rally run is a time warp to Group B
If you head on over to Mexico and the Baja 500, it feels a bit like you’ve been thrown back into those good old days. In this video we ride onboard with Robby Gordon and his Dakar Hummer with a roaring 6.0-litre V8.
As we head around the first corner, the Group B vibes are strong. The fans are spilling over onto the track like matadors playing chicken with a raging bull. The Hummer H3 Dakar then proceeds to fly through some precarious conditions as the crowds continue to risk their luck. So, if you are missing those wild days, the Baja 500 might just be the event for you.
