Paris Motor Show: Ferrari 458 Speciale A

Ferrari 458 Speciale A

Okay, so we knew about it before the show, but hell, a visit to the Ferrari stand is a must at any motor show. Today in Paris it’s all about the 605hp 458 Speciale A – for Aperta – that and the fact that chairman of two decades Luca di Montezemelo is on his way out (we actually literally bumped into him as he wandered around outside Hall 1 looking for something to do). Untypically his introduction to the new Aperta was extremely brief, perhaps saying more about displeasure at his departure than anything else.

Should we be worried? Montezemelo has been instrumental in Ferrari’s success, but he’s been a staunch believer in keeping numbers down, exclusivity high and focusing on pure sports cars. That’s likely to change under new management. Could we be seeing the wraps pulled off new niche models at future shows? It’s more than likely…
