AMG’s long promised Porsche 911-fighter is finally here, and it’s causing a sensation at the Paris Motor Show, though somewhat surprisingly there’s only one example on hand to be pored over. It’ll be available in both standard 462hp guise and range-topping (for now) 510hp GT S form. The Porsche 911 rival was the talk of the show before the doors even opened, partly because of the lavish spectacular where Mercedes-Benz showed both the GT and C63 AMG Estate at the Piscine Molitor, a 1920s swimming pool.
No pools, or even C63 wagons, on the stand at the Paris expo centre, though the GT remains very much the star of the stand. The GT S is distinguished by a fixed rear wing, while its specification increases with AMG Ride Control suspension with three-stage damping, larger 390mm front brake discs and a larger wheel and tyre package. Whatever you choose, judging by the reaction in Paris, you’ll have chosen well.
