Ever since taking part in the Mille Miglia this year (well, actually I followed the whole event from the relative comfort of a Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, but still …) I’ve been keeping a keen eye on the market for vehicles suitable for tackling the event as a competitor.
Despite the clement (scorching!) conditions enjoyed by this year’s Miglia stories were common of the three-day rainstorm that was 2013, so I have in mind something with a permanent roof. Also, to best enter in to the spirit of the whole thing (and some would say in order to have a faint chance of winning) it also has to be Italian. As luck would have it a friend of GRR has been in touch to let us know of the ideal candidate which can be acquired in plenty of time to prepare both it and yourself for the 2015 event.
Yes, if my numbers come up I’ll be lining up at Brescia in this gorgeous 1957 Ferrari 250 Boano Ellena ‘high roof’ coupe. Not only is it one of 50 such cars produced, it comes with Ferrari Classiche certification, is a ‘matching numbers’ car with previous documentation and service records and would have the many thousands of Italians who venture out to spectate on the event purring with appreciation.
I can’t think of many better ways to tackle the legendary 1000 miles, can you? Assuming my numbers aren’t going to come up in time, I’ll begrudgingly have to pass this opportunity on to principals only please. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org, and do bear me in mind if you need a co-driver …
