
One of the many brilliant things that go on in and around Goodwood every day is the constant stream of Roll-Royces on test on the local roads. It’s a rare day when you don’t see a factory-fresh Phantom or Wraith or several being driven on trade plates and still in its protective wrapping. It’s a daily feel-good sight.
The company has just announced plans to expand into a second facility eight miles away. The new 30,000sq ft building will be located in Bognor Regis and will consolidate a number of logistical functions. It will employ 200 people, a number that will include those who are relocated and some new roles.
It’s part of ‘Enterprise Bognor Regis’, a local government-run initiative to make it one of the premier business locations in West Sussex. It will be fully operational in 2016, after the opening of a new relief road next year.
Three main operations will be handled in Rolls-Royce’s Bognor Regis wing: inbound warehousing of production parts, a distribution centre including complete car storage, and a workshop for car preparation.
