Rolls‑Royce to build 'second home' in Bognor Regis... but the factory will still be next door to Goodwood

One of the many brilliant things that go on in and around Goodwood every day is the constant stream of Roll-Royces on test on the local roads. It’s a rare day when you don’t see a factory-fresh Phantom or Wraith or several being driven on trade plates and still in its protective wrapping. It’s a daily feel-good sight.

The company has just announced plans to expand into a second facility eight miles away. The new 30,000sq ft building will be located in Bognor Regis and will consolidate a number of logistical functions. It will employ 200 people, a number that will include those who are relocated and some new roles.

It’s part of ‘Enterprise Bognor Regis’, a local government-run initiative to make it one of the premier business locations in West Sussex. It will be fully operational in 2016, after the opening of a new relief road next year.

Three main operations will be handled in Rolls-Royce’s Bognor Regis wing: inbound warehousing of production parts, a distribution centre including complete car storage, and a workshop for car preparation.
