Porsche is one of the few non-domestic Japanese car brands to introduce a new model today at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, with its more sporting version of its Macan SUV.
Badged GTS, this additional derivative will be sandwiched between the existing Macan S and Turbo models, with UK deliveries due to commence early in the New Year, and prices starting £55,188.
The new Macan GTS uses a reworked version of the twin-turbo 3-litre V6 engine from the S model, tuned with an extra 20bhp to deliver 355bhp, with torque boosted to 369lb ft. This upgrade results in a higher maximum speed of 160mph, with a 0-62mph time of 5.2 seconds
To cope with the additional power and performance, the brakes have been upgraded, and the standard Porsche Active Suspension Management system has been reworked to lower the regular ride height by 15mm. The Macan GTS will come equipped with Porsche’s PDK paddle shift seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, plus the Porsche Traction Management system that splits the power distribution to the four wheels as required.
