Cars that rock Retromobile: Ferrari 275 GTB/4

We mentioned yesterday how certain cars – like the Porsche RSR Prototype – at Retromobile seem to catch us in their powerful tractor beam. The latest to do the same was this Ferrari GTB/4.

You see, of the 280-ish (nobody seems quite sure!) GTB/4s made, only two left the factory in black and with a black interior. This is one of that original pair, and doesn’t it look absolutely stunning?

Sadly, we weren’t able to glean much of its history except that it was ordered new in Italy and at some point made its way to California where it was the subject of a full-on concours restoration by Ferrari Newport Beach.

We also know that it’s a ‘matching-numbers’ car with Ferrari Classiche certification and has been documented by renowned Ferrari historian Marcel Massini. Such a shame that he wasn’t here to divulge with us who might have once owned it!

Mind you, it’s such a jaw-dropping car that it stands on its own merits. The stuff that dreams are made of …
