Summer is nearly upon us, what better way to celebrate than by taking a mid-engined sportscar for a blast through West Sussex? As if to oblige, and just days after Alfa Romeo revealed its fabric-topped 4C Spider, Lotus has announced how much its new Evora 400 will cost.
Yours for £72,000 the Evora 400 will be unleashed on the world in August, powered by the same 3.5-litre V6 as before, but breathed on by a modified supercharger so that it pumps out 400bhp.
That means the Evora 400 will complete the race to 60mph in 4.1 seconds and continue on to 186mph, making it the fastest road car Lotus has ever produced. Lotus says it has lapped the company’s Hethel test track six seconds faster than the Evora S.
Under the skin, which receives some aero-based styling tweaks that are more than just cosmetic, there’s a new, lightweight, aluminium chassis and a more polished interior.
The Evora 400 is fitted with a limited-slip differential, composite brakes, air-con and sat-nav as standard – alcantara or leather and an auto ‘box can are on the options list as well as a £1,250 ‘Black Pack’ which adds new body panels.
With stats like those, we’d love to see one at the Festival of Speed…
