Ford has unveiled its new Fiesta ST220, the 197bhp (200PS) version of the Fiesta ST hot hatch, ahead of the Geneva motor show.
As well as 10 per cent more power, the ST200 has 20 per cent more torque over its predecessor, meaning 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds, and making this version the most powerful production Fiesta ever built (the first ST200 appeared in 2013).
The 1.6-litre Ecoboost petrol engine has been calibrated for the ST200 and uses transient overboost and a shortened ratio for the final drive. The suspension features an adaptive rear twist-beam and bespoke front and rear spring and damper settings.
There is a three-mode electronic stability control system and sharper steering ratio. Production starts in June with first customer deliveries this summer.
‘The Fiesta ST is truly beloved by owners and critics. The ST200 takes this special drivers’ car to a new level of power and performance,’ said Joe Bakaj, vice president, Product Development, Ford of Europe. ‘I think it’s a future classic in the making.’
