Beijing 2016: Infiniti Unveils QX Sport Concept
It’s the QX Sport concept, the “inspiration” in Infiniti’s words not just for a replacement for its oldest and least loved model, the QX50, but also a “marker for the design, layout and engineering of future QX models.” Which we reckon is good news because the QX Sport looks to be a cracker.
The design is highly sculptural in the Infiniti way but also very sporting with that dropping roofline, and definitely muscular – see those powerfully bulging rear haunches. With its good proportions and assertive stance it’s further evidence that Infiniti design – which has always been a bit ahead of the curve – is hitting the mark. After all, wouldn’t you be inclined to check this out before you splashed the cash on a BMW X3, Audi Q5, Porsche Macan or even Jaguar’s new F-Pace?
The other good news is that Infiniti has a very good record of putting its concept cars into production. There’s no confirmation of a new production model yet, but our guess is that with a looker like this Infiniti won’t want to miss out on the wildly successful premium mid-size SUV for long…
