Although it may look like a BMW, the car you see pictured here is in fact an EMW; a post-War 327 model to be exact. Following the post-War East/West split of German, BMW’s previous production plant in Eisenach – located on the East side of the country – initially found itself with no new car models to build and sell, so it re-introduced the pre-War BMW 327, which ran from 1937 to 1941

Techno Classica 2016: Meet BMW's East German Cousin – EMW
With Eisenach continuing 327 production up until 1955, using the model’s same, legendary straight-six engine. No longer able to offer the 327 with BMW branding, the name and badging was simply changed to read EMW, with the E now signifying Eisenach. Two sought-after Roadster examples of this fine EMW can be found at Essen this year.
