Five constructors’ titles with Williams between 1991 and 1997 for drivers Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill, and Jacques Villeneuve; a championship with McLaren; multiple constructors’ and drivers’ titles with Red Bull Racing and Sebastian Vettel since 2010
And he designs yachts! In his role at Red Bull Advanced Technologies, he has been working with Ben Ainslie Racing on the British America’s Cup challenger for 2017
In his first modern race, at Le Mans in In 2007, he co-drove a Ferrari F430 to fourth in class and 22nd outright
He was chief technical officer for the video game Gran Turismo 5
Newey was given a Red Bull RB5 by the team in 2010 in recognition of his achievements – which he promptly drove up the hill at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed
Newey’s son Harrison was runner-up in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship in 2015 in his first full season of motor racing
