Jaguar F‑Type range sharpened up for 2017
Jaguar has given Britain’s favourite sportscar range a thorough spring cleaning, freshening up the F-Type’s looks, adding a special launch edition model available for one year only, and giving all variants an infotainment boost – including the debut of the new ReRun phone app for making your own driving videos.
The app works in conjunction with Jaguar’s superfast connectivity infotainment system, Touch Pro, which is now standard on all F-Types. ReRun enables real-time video from a GoPro camera to be overlaid with data from the car, including speed, throttle position, gear selection, braking force, g-force and steering wheel angle. The system is operated by mobile phone and offers an editing function. “We are looking forward to seeing the first customer videos online,” says Adam Silver from GoPro.
As well as the tech boost, all 22 derivatives in the new F-Type lineup – from £51,450 340bhp coupe to £110,000 575bhp SVR model – come in for a facelift that centres on new LED lights and bespoke front bumper designs for the different versions. Changes inside include new slimline seats that weigh 8kg less than before and new chrome trim.
The 2017-range introductory special model is the 400 Sport, which Jaguar says will be on sale for 12 months only. Available as coupe or convertible and in either rear- or all-wheel-drive forms, the 400 Sport lives up to its name with a 20bhp power boost from the 380bhp supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine.
Jaguar’s eight-speed Quickshift transmission and mechanical limited-slip differential are standard, and suspension and braking are uprated. The standard addition of the Sport Design Pack adds a more prominent front splitter, extended side sills and rear diffuser. There are plenty of 400 Sport logos in the chosen highlight colour of yellow and grey.
Available in silver, black or white, the 400 Sport is priced from £70,115 and, along with the rest of the refreshed range, goes on sale in the next few weeks.
