A familiar face from the past that many people would like to see back in production is the VW Microbus. Detroit 2017: VW ID Buzz previews a future Microbus EV
Will this latest concept, the ID Buzz, be the exception? It wouldn’t appear for a good few years yet – 2022 is one guess – but it seems this one is actually likely to make it onto the roads. It would be one of a range of models to push VW to the forefront of electric cars, following the diesel scandal.
So while classic Microbus design cues are present aplenty, there’s also a hefty dose of technology. This Microbus is all an electric, all-wheel drive eight-seater with autonomous driving capability and range of 270 miles. Oh, and VW says it will get from 0-62mph in just 5 seconds!
