Seventy-five years after the last Spyker car rolled off the production line, this long-forgotten Dutch sporting marque was revived for an ambitious all-new, mid-engined supercar, built on a bespoke chassis and powered by an Audi-derived 4.2-litre V8, engine developing around 400bhp and mated to a six-speed manual Getrag transmission.

Rare Spyker C8 Spyder up for grabs at Bonhams Scottsdale
The ‘new’ Spyker borrowed heavily from the historic marque's aviation heritage to detail the flamboyant new car, with NACA air inlets, propeller motif badges and a distinctive propeller inspired steering wheel, all wrapped-up in attractive coupe or cabriolet bodywork, quite unlike anything else on the road.
As part of its Scottsdale sale on January 19th, Bonhams is offering an exceptional 1,100-mile Spyker C8 Spyder – one of less than 300 made – finished in Dark Sapphire Blue with a complementary blue leather interior, accented by polished alloy on the mirrors, fog-light cut-outs, and ‘gun turret’ body side air intakes.
This Spyker C8 Spyder features dramatic ‘Lamborghini-style’ upward-swinging doors. The front compartment is accessed via a clamshell deck lid, while the engine and boot share a cover in the back. With its cut down windscreen, rollover hoops, and high-mount exhausts, the overall styling of the C8 Spyder is aggressive and sporting, yet the whole package is finely finished and nicely detailed.
This rare and appealing Spyker is estimated by Bonhams to achieve a sale price between £180,000 and £220,000.
