Talking about the Porsche 911 at all feels like a bit of a cliché these days. It’s so universally revered, so complete in its ownership of the segment that it created, that the ultimate and seemingly futile quest of the motoring media these days is to find a worthy rival. Of course there are many, but none have stood astride the segment for so long.

Video: Why you need to own a Porsche 911 at some point
The thing is, anyone that tells you that you have to buy a 911 and that it is the only option rather misses a fundamental joy in car ownership. Experience. The goal is to experience as many joys in motoring as possible and though the 911 masters many, it’s not the subjective be-all. That being said, it is something we think everyone should experience. Jethro Bovingdon of DriveTribe seems to agree if the video above is anything to go by. He’s bought what many would claim is the worst ever 911, and tried his hand at turning it into a gem. Judge for yourself, but we reckon he's done a pretty good job.
