It’s a history that will be celebrated in a specially commissioned film that goes live on Land Rover’s YouTube channel at 8pm tonight.
Land Rover is promising the story of its cars, people and adventures from the past seven decades, so expect plenty of mud, derring-do and famous faces – Land Rovers have long been a favourite with royalty and celebrities after all. Plus, the company is hinting at a peek into the future (new Defender perchance?). You’ll have to watch the film to find out.
Definitely, starring will be the freshly-restored pre-production car that was one of the three Land Rovers to star at that Amsterdam premiere. And rounding out the Defender story will be one of the 150 400bhp Defender Works V8s to be built by Land Rover Classic as a Defender swansong.
There might even be some Goodwood connections in there – Land Rovers have after all been part of the furniture at Goodwood for most of those 70 years… on the estate, at Revival and at the Festival of Speed.
As a birthday tribute, our nine most favourite Land Rovers-at-Goodwood moments coming soon…
