There can be no mistaking those purposeful exhaust pipes pointing skywards out of the back of the car in the picture - they could only belong to a McLaren 600LT, or Longtail. So why is McLaren teasing us that it’s a new model?
Because it is. It’s the fifth model to wear the LT name and the third new variant to be delivered under McLaren’s Track25 business plan, announced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard last year.
So what is the new car? As the recently unveiled 720S Spider showed, McLaren is gearing up for some summer action and we are all soon to be faced with a fresh air choice from Woking: 720S Spider or (we are predicting…) 600LT Spider?
We’ll know more when the covers come off at 1pm on Wednesday January 16. Meantime if you fancy one it might be worth talking to your McLaren dealer now; they are only going to make it for 12 months, and the last LT Spider, the 675, sold out in two weeks…
