We’re not really in business to show you the carmakers’ commercials, but occasionally a film comes along that’s definitely worth the watch. Porsche's 2020 Superbowl ad is too good to miss.
Video: Watch Porsche’s Superbowl ad – it’s absolutely crazy
In any case, this is probably the only place you will be able to see it, since the film has been made to be shown in the US during the Super Bowl on Sunday (2nd February). The last time Porsche had an ad during the Super Bowl – among the most-watched TV events of the year – was in 1997.
As a TV film it lasts just 60 seconds but here we have the full two-minute-plus cut. It’s a simple, time-honoured story: someone steals a car and gets chased. It starts out in the Porsche Museum where the miscreant silently sneaks past the guard in the new all-electric Taycan. The car is almost away when the alarm goes off and the museum staff pile into whatever is parked nearby and give chase.
Paked nearby in the museum are such Porsche gems as a 917K, a 918 Spyder, a 911 of course and other museum models, including a Porsche tractor. The dozen cars chase the Taycan at high speed through town and country, eventually catching it on a dam wall. It’s all well shot and action-packed, and the acting and script are not too cheesy. We were quite “taken” by it…
