The star of JLR's sizeable exhibition stand at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show was the three-door Range Rover SV Coupe, Land Rover's revival of the original coupe-style Range Rover concept first revealed 50 years ago in 1970. It never made it to production, sadly, but now a brilliant Dutch coachbuilder Niels van Roij Design is reviving the three-door Rangie. This is the Aventum Coupe.

The JLR-design three-door SV Coupe from 2018 was based on the current fourth-generation L405 Range Rover, developed as a luxury, range-topping three-door by JLR’s SVO division. The SV Coupe was intended as a limited-run of 999 units, each SVO-built example priced at around £250,000, with numerous customer deposits being taken.
Following a very positive reception at its Geneva debut, JLR's SVO pressed on with the Range Rover SV Coupe’s development, with first customer deliveries due in early 2019. These deliveries failed to materialise however, due to a major cost-cutting programme at JLR, with the SVO's Range Rover Coupe project axed and client deposits refunded before production got underway.
The Aventum Coupe now means would-be Range Rover SV Coupe buyers can now beat a path to the door of Dutch coachbuilder and vehicle modifier Niels van Roij Design.

Although based around the current Range Rover, the van Roij Aventum Coupe only retains that model’s front wings, bonnet and bootlid, with all other coachwork being handcrafted in aluminium to create a stylish but practical three-door SUV. Using the Range Rover’s supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine, combined with teak rear cargo decking and a bespoke luxury interior, each Aventum Coupe will be priced at around £235,000 before tax, with just 100 handmade examples are planned.
Previous coachbuilt modifications by Niels van Roij Design include an elegant Tesla Model S shooting break conversion, plus a 21st Century Ferrari-based homage to the iconic 250 Breadvan. The Aventum Coupe is a mighty machine.
