It’s something of a cliché nowadays, but driving a red Ferrari in Italy is special – there are no two ways about it. And a few weeks ago that’s exactly what we did.
Video: Ferrari Roma Review
The Ferrari in question is the new Roma, supposedly a more everyday Ferrari. Not that you couldn’t drive an F8 Tributo every day, it’s just that Ferrari hopes the Roma is a little more approachable, a little friendlier and will bring in a new, less petrol-heady kind of customer. It still has a 620PS (456kW) 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8, mind you. It also weighs 100kg less than its sister the Portofino, and actually has slightly stiffer springs. So a more everyday Ferrari it might be, but driving through some mountain roads in Italy, a soft, boring Ferrari it most certainly is not.
