Akira Nakai may be a name you don’t recognise. However, if you like Porsches and big arches, you may just have found the right man: his tuning shop in Japan – Rauh-Welt Begriff or RWB – has been enhancing 911’s with wide arch kits and big wings for over 30 years!
Video: Creating the ultimate 993 Porsche 911
For most of that time the shop specialised in ‘luftgekühlt’ 911s and this video shows the result of that experience in action on one the last of the air-cooled Porsches: the 993.
Named ‘Ruri’ by Nakai upon completion after the beautiful blue paint used, this 993 certainly has that extra spice. What began as a Japanese-import 1994 Porsche 911 Carrera has become a twin-turbocharged, body-kitted monster. This video chronicles the fitting of the final few body enhancements, installed by Akira Nakai himself. Ruri’s engine is still being overhauled, so there are not yet shots of this beast on the move. That said, the finished product looks absolutely stunning and a testament to Akira Nakai’s RWB crew.
