All‑electric Lexus LFA successor coming by 2030

A bold claim too is that the LFA will find something of a successor in the production version of this prototype, as this car is to ‘revive’ its ‘spirit. We don’t need to tell you about how the LFA was almost defined by one of the most scintillating internal combustion engines ever produced, so whatever silent successor comes, it had better be good. 

Aesthetically we can totally see it. This prototype advances the angular contoured styling language the LFA introduced over 13 years ago. As an idea, the LFA has now existed for 20 years.

In terms of performance, Lexus is claiming acceleration to 62mph in the low two-second range and a driving range of 430 miles (700km) thanks to solid-state batteries. If this thing hits the road soon that will at least make it an LFA successor technologically. Solid-state batteries have been much-lauded by manufacturers for their increased density and reduced weight but with no real date given of when they’ll reach market.

Lexus wants this to be a driver’s EV too, saying it ‘aims to fully leverage the potential of electrification to increase the joy of driving for all its customers’.

‘It will also deliver the rewards of the Lexus Driving Signature, a unique driving experience founded on linear vehicle responses that are constantly faithful to the driver’s intentions, with seamless connection of deceleration, steering and acceleration at all times’.
