Don’t let a £40 million line-up of classics on a grid at a Revival Meeting fool you. We love all motorsport, at all levels, be it concours-winners with inimitable provenance from the golden age of sportscar racing, or half rally-prepped hatchbacks and drift cars handbraking around a road course. Today’s mid-morning distraction firmly falls in the latter camp.
Video: Drifting round an old industrial estate in Poland looks brilliant
We find ourselves in Poland, for Moto Skoczow, where everything from Subarus, to Ford Fiestas, Renault Clios and Nissan Silvias, slither their way around a closed road course, with drivers demonstrating to the best of their ability their car control skills. It’s an orgy of anti-lag and locked diffs, as cars and drivers do their best to impress the crowds in the slush and slurry. We’re particular fans of the blue GC8 Impreza STi sedan, which does a good impression of an early-days Colin McRae in his 555-branded machines – backwards entries, full lock and fire-spitting limiter abuse aplenty. It’s a sight for work-weary eyes on a Friday morning.
