At the 76th Members’ Meeting Rob Huff shared a 1961 Jaguar E-type with Richard Meins in the Moss Trophy. Having qualified in seventh, the pair climbed up to second at the chequered flag aboard ‘CUT 7’ – the car that finished fourth in the 1962 Sussex Trophy here at Goodwood.

The result wasn’t the most notable part of this drive, however. It was the way that Rob – the 2012 World Touring Car Champion – drove the car that’s memorable. Looking at the footage (below) you can see that he spent more time looking out of his windows, than he did out of the windscreen. It was a masterclass in sideways driving. Not only was he not pointing in a straight line, he was also extraordinarily quick. Surely the Holy Grail of historic racing.
So why mention all this now? Well, Rob Huff is racing again at Goodwood, in this year’s Revival meeting, behind the wheel of a Ford-Lotus Cortina in the St Mary’s Trophy, the same E-type in the Kinrara Trophy, a semi-lightweight E-type in the RAC TT and a Lotus-Oldsmobile 19 in Whitsun Trophy. The last thing you want to do is miss any of his on-track antics and one way to ensure that you don’t, is to watch the ‘chicane camera’ live stream that’s exclusive to GRRC Members and anyone who is a part of the Fellowship.
The chicane camera is located on the exit of the corner and points up the pit straight all weekend, from 9am Friday morning until the end of the action on Sunday. As the cars thunder away from the chicane they’re at their slowest on the circuit, which means that everyone is trying to get as much power down as possible, and change up the gears as they head towards the double apex of Madgwick. It means almost every car is fighting for grip as it treads the fine line between rumble strip and the grass beyond. It’s a sight to behold.
A new addition this year is a ‘no commentary’ live stream. This will include all of the great action over the weekend, just without any commentary on top.
