We are especially looking forward to welcoming reigning British Champion jockey, William Buick, to Goodwood this season. The 34-year-old Norwegian-born rider is poised on a career total of 99 Goodwood winners and set to notch up a magnificent milestone.

Masar and milestones
If his performance last season is anything to go by when he dominated the Qatar Goodwood Festival leading jockey championship with six winners for the week, it won’t be long before he joins the 100 Club.
Buick, who scored his first Goodwood success on Dingaan in the Empire Property Group Handicap on 9 June, 2007, shared the Champion Apprentice title with David Probert in 2008 and just two years later rode his first British Classic winner when partnering Arctic Cosmos to victory in the St Leger, a race he has won twice since, most recently in 2021 with the Charley Appleby trained Hurricane Lane.
A hugely successful partnership with Appleby and Godolphin has contributed significantly to Buick’s claim to have ridden Group 1 winners in nine different countries, and also provided him with Epsom Derby glory aboard Masar in 2018. Masar’s journey to Classic success coincidentally began here on the Sussex Downs when he held off Invincible Army to win by a short head on his racecourse debut in the Matchbook Betting Exchange EBF Novices’ Stakes in May 2017 partnered, of course, by Buick.
We hope you will be with us to celebrate William Buick’s 100th Goodwood winner not if but when he enters the Winner’s Enclosure at Goodwood for the first time this season.
