The future of flying?
The small aerobatic aircraft is powered by a 260 kilowatt electric motor and has already set numerous world records. Visitors will be able to get within touching distance of this remarkable aircraft, as well as a host of others on display.
The Red Arrows will be taking to the skies for breath-taking displays of skill, while the unmistakable roar of a Typhoon fighter will follow. Back on the ground, a selection of Pedal Planes will be available for the little ones to pilot around a dedicated area. Budding astronauts can get a taste of what life in space is like, thanks to the Novium Museum bringing part of its ‘Tim Peake: An Extraordinary Journey' exhibition. As part of this, museum staff will explain the challenges faced by astronauts when working outside our atmosphere.
Oriens, the exclusive British distributor of Pilatus aircraft, will be displaying their PC-12 and will also be hosting an arrivals lounge, welcoming visitors who are flying in to the Festival of Speed. Textron will be exhibiting three variants of the ever-popular Cessna; a 182T, TTx and Grand Caravan EX. HelixAv and Nicolas McLaren will also have a presence on the stands.
Goodwood's own Flying School will be displaying its range of aircraft, including the beautiful Harvard Warbird, training Cessnas and Piper Super Cub, with the chance to meet some of our pilots and flying instructors.
If the sights and sounds of such an array of aircraft inspire guests to get a taste of flying themselves, a variety of flight experiences, such as Flying with a Spitfire and helicopter pleasure flights, will be available during the event. Spitfire pilots will also be giving inspirational talks throughout the weekend. This will be a great place for anyone interested in aviation to get a real feel for the size, beauty and engineering precision of a wonderful range of aircraft, both modern and historic.
