‘That was absolutely sensational,’ was how the winning drive in the day’s third race was described. Who are we to argue when it was Sir Stirling Moss who said it? The Settrington Cup for Austin J40 pedal cars is in danger of becoming something of a benefit for the Collings family. Up against a class field of four to 10 year olds, Catherine Collings pedaled furiously to victory in today’s second heat. It was the third victory for the family in two years, her brother Archie having achieved the double in 2015.

‘You just keep pedaling and go as fast as your car can,’ said the victorious lady.

Henry Alexander raced up from sixth on the grid to prevent an all-female podium, just beating Catherine Taylor in the process.
