Festival of Speed | Press Article 23/06/17

For Immediate Release: June 23rd 2017

Fine food and fast cars might not seem like natural bedfellows but at Goodwood they strike up a wonderful relationship. The food on offer during the Festival of Speed, and later in the year at Revival, is not only delicious and innovative, it is also largely sourced from Goodwood’s own organic farm or from local growers and artisan producers.

Goodwood’s catering partner rhubarb also manages a variety of appetising food and hospitality offerings including the Porsche Café Le Mans and the Lamborghini Ristorante 1963.

Unlike any other motorsport venue in the world, the 12,000-acre estate that surrounds all the action on the Hillclimb is dedicated in one way or another to the production of fine food. Goodwood Home Farm is one of the largest lowland organic farms in Europe and its dairy herd was one of the first in the country to be 100% organically fed. The Estate produces award winning beef, pork, lamb, cheeses, lagers and ales.

The choices on offer will leave you in a tailspin. At Goodwood the mechanically minded can refuel with such a wide range of gourmet options at pitstops across the Estate that you will want to come back for more: (For all booking information please visit: https://www.goodwood.com/flagship-events/festival-of-speed/plan-your-day/eating--drinking-at-festival-of-speed/)

The recently opened sustainable restaurant celebrates the lesser-known cuts of meat from animals raised literally yards away on the Estate. The new Summer menu is bursting with fresh, seasonal ingredients including gooseberry, lovage and sorrel sitting alongside our signature cuts of slow-cooked organic beef, pork and lamb. It promises to be an oasis of calm in the midst of all the excitement of the Festival. You will certainly have travelled farther than your food. Lunch is £60 per person for three courses and a glass of fizz. Lunch is served between 11.30am and 2.30pm. Entry ticket not included.

Classic dishes are given a Goodwood twist. Lunch is £42.50 per person for three courses and is served between 11.30am and 3.30pm. Entry ticket not included.

The renowned Porsche Café Le Mans is returning once again, serving beautifully presented dishes in a prime location on the front lawn outside the House, making it the perfect spot to enjoy lunch with a glass of wine whilst soaking up the atmosphere of the event. Guests can head straight to Porsche Café Le Mans for a hearty full English breakfast or a continental platter of fresh pastries, cured meats, cheese and fruit salads all served with unlimited tea, coffee, fruit juice and toast. For lunch, our chefs will create classic dishes using only the finest ingredients with highlights including beef rib eye with skinny fries and fillet of sea bass with chive crushed potatoes followed by seasonal Eton Mess or a Goodwood Estate cheeseboard. The Lamborghini Ristorante 1963 has been newly revamped for 2017 and now features a wonderful outdoor lawn where our expert chefs will be crafting stone baked pizzas throughout the day, with an abundance of toppings to enjoy outside with an ice-cold Birra Moretti. The main indoor restaurant will continue to serve Italian classics including starters of bruschetta, Insalata Caprese of fresh buffalo mozzarella, tomato and basil and Arancini Siciliani, followed by delicious main courses of pizza and pasta.
