HORSEPOWER ON THE HILL - FOS FACTS AND FIGURES

For Immediate Release: July 1st 2017

As the stunning Saturday line-up of Festival of Speed (FoS) gets firmly underway, here are some facts and figures about the event which sees four hundred and fifty mighty machines from across the globe, come together in the grounds of Goodwood House.
There are over one hundred and eighty racing cars and sixty bikes taking part in the Hillclimb action over the four-day event, with Batch 6 – (Supercars, Race cars for the Road and First Glance) - including seventy cars alone.

Over eighty cars will tear through the trees at the Goodwood Forest Rally Stage this weekend, whilst twenty take on the challenges of the Off-Road Arena and forty-five of the most beautiful cars ever seen on the roads grace the Cartier Lawn. Another forty cars are on display in the various paddocks.
With power output in the thousands, we have the fuel-altered dragster, whilst the most powerful road cars are the Porsche 917/30 (around 1500bhp), and Mad Mike’s MX-5 (around 1200).

In addition to the horsepower on the hill, FoS puts up some strong numbers in event production too;
• We lay around 12 miles of trackway
• We hold over 1 million litres of water on site
• We print over 498,000 tickets and wristbands in total for FOS
• We order around 1000 picnic benches
• Enough temporary power to power Chichester – 15 mega watts
• Approximately 4,500 hay bales are used to set up the Hillclimb and Off-Road Arenas
• We build over 200 temporary structures
• Over 600 radios make up our communication network
• We welcome over 300 Exhibitors on site for the Festival of Speed
• We put up over 2000 signs in and around the event site
The Festival of Speed is arguably the biggest greenfield event build in the world.
