Mellors and Reid top the timesheets

For immediate release:  Sunday 15 July 2018

Oliver Mellors topped the timesheets in Saturday’s Rally Shootout. The Proton driver recorded a total time of 10.05.6 after each of his four runs were added together. He edged out Skoda man Chris Ingram by just shy of seven seconds, with Subaru Impreza driver Mark Courtney third, some 44sec in arrears. First Group B man home was John Saunders aboard his brutal MG Metro 6R4.

On the Hill, touring car legend and Goodwood stalwart Anthony Reid guided his BAC Mono to FTD in the Michelin Supercar Run. He came home in 49.12sec with a finish speed of 127.2mph. Rally star and stunt driver Mark Higgins was second in a Porsche GT2 RS after recording a time of 50.38, his finish speed being just 0.5mph short of the victor’s. Multiple World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaux was third aboard a Ford GT, only marginally beating Aston Martin Vulcan AMR ace, Darren Turner. Their respective times were 51.36 and 51.66sec, although the Aston was 5mph faster across the finish line than the Ford.
