Robert Kubica returns to Goodwood Festival of Speed with Martini

Festival of Speed | Press Article 14/06/18

Robert Kubica will return to the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 14-15 July with MARTINI Racing™, as part of the 50th anniversary of MARTINI®.

Robert Kubica made his return to FORMULA ONE™, this year, signing as Williams Martini Racing’s Reserve and Development driver, overcoming his injuries sustained in a 2011 rally crash. The 2018 FORMULA ONE™ season has seen Robert get behind the wheel in pre-season testing, as well as more recently during a practice session in Barcelona. Robert’s vast racing experience is proving him to be an invaluable member of the Williams Martini Racing team assisting the team in developing the FW41.

The hugely popular driver made his public comeback at the Festival in 2017, with fans travelling to West Sussex in their droves from Poland, where Kubica is regarded as a national hero.

“Robert is a great example of someone fighting for their dreams,” one of his compatriots told Goodwood during the 2017 Festival. “Every weekend was special when he was racing in F1. Seeing him back in an F1 car here at Goodwood is just fantastic. He is Poland’s first and only F1 driver and a national hero to us.”

In 2018 MARTINI® will celebrate its 50th anniversary in racing. MARTINI Racing™ was first seen on the Porsche 910 in 1968 and has since become one of the most famous liveries in motorsport, thanks to its unmistakable red, white and blue racing stripes. This year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, celebrations for the 50th anniversary will focus around the MARTINI Terrazza, where ‘MARTINI & Friends’ sessions throughout the weekend will provide insights into the world of MARTINI Racing™ and cocktail masterclasses.

Robert Kubica’s appearance, and a MARTINI Racing™ car display, featuring photo opportunities with the Williams Martini Racing F1 car, Lancia Delta Integrale and many more, are just some of the reasons to visit the MARTINI Terrazza.

Forming part of this celebration of MARTINI will be a great collection of some of the finest examples of the red, white and blue machines, including the Lancia LC2, a collection of Porsches and Colin McRae’s rally-winning Ford Focus.

For a second year, MARTINI® will also present the Drivers’ Club at the Festival, offering superb hospitality and a place for the drivers to relax ahead of their drives up the famous Hillclimb.

Tickets for the Festival of Speed are on sale at www.goodwood.com and at the Goodwood Ticket Office on 01243 755 055.
