Frankel colt follows in his father’s footsteps with impressive win
Seven Heavens, the first of Frankel’s prolific progeny to run at Goodwood, showed a turn of foot not unlike that of his sire to take the ebfstallions.com Peter Willett Stallion Restricted Conditions Stakes by six lengths.
A field on only three went to post, which was reduced even further when outsider Sheila’s Fancy was withdrawn after becoming very worked up in the stalls. As the gates opened, Shabeeh veered markedly left, bumping Seven Heavens and lighting up the favourite in the process. Robert Havlin then had to fight to settle the son of Heaven Sent to sit him on the heels of his rival and it looked to many as though the he was doing too much.
But Seven Heavens clearly possesses some of the class of his esteemed father and when asked to quicken at the two furlong marker, he sailed past Shabeeh and scooted clear to score by six lengths, pushed out only with hands and heels. An appreciative applause went up from the grandstands, most of the crowd having watched without placing a bet at the prohibitive starting price of 1/10.
After the victory, Havlin said; “He will learn a lot from the experience and you would expect him to come on again for that. He was very lit up when we got knocked out of the stalls and made it difficult for himself, but I’m pleased with way he was still able to pick up.”
Connections suggested that it was too early to say where they may go next, but the suspicion is that Seven Heavens may well have a very bright future ahead.
