Running up funds for Chestnut Tree House

On Wednesday 3rd August the annual Goodwood 5-mile road race took place within the stunning Goodwood Estate.

The event raised over £900 for Goodwood’s Charity of the year, Sussex based children’s hospice Chestnut Tree House, whose initiative is to care for every life limited child and family in Sussex.

Starting at 7pm, the race saw 195 runners of all abilities tackle what is arguably Goodwood's most iconic landmark, the renowned hill climb made famous by the multitudes of legendary motor racing heroes sprinting the 1.87km incline which has an elevation of 95m.

The Men’s winner was Stephen McLoughlin who completed the course in 29.18 minutes. Ladies winner was Goodwood Health Club Member, Kate Stillwell who ran the race in 36:55 minutes.

Participants could also take part with their dog. Ben Brown and canine friend Jake finished the run in 36:07 minutes.

Winners received a Suunto Watch, provided by Amer sports.

One race goer said “I come to Festival of Speed each year and I love the fact that we run along the same route. The run was a very nicely organised event”.
