Discover the foundations of driving from a different perspective. Designed for young drivers aged 14 and over, this off-road experience places you behind the wheel of a classic Series 2 Land Rover, where you'll develop confidence and clutch control across grass, gravel, perimeter tracks and off-road terrain guided by our expert instructors. You'll complete your session in our state-of-the-art simulators.

Every session is led by Goodwood's experienced team of instructors. Their calm, supportive approach helps build confidence from the very first moments behind the wheel, tailoring guidance to each participant's experience level while ensuring learning remains engaging and enjoyable.
Every participant receives a personal driving logbook to record their progress. As confidence grows, instructors will introduce new challenges and sign off each achievement, helping young drivers work towards a Goodwood Junior Driving Certificate of Completion. Throughout the experience, participants will develop:

- Pulling away and controlled stopping
- Hill starts and recovery
- Terrain assessment and vehicle placement
- Off-road driving techniques
- Steering precision and control
- Simulator awareness and reaction
Each visit builds on the last, allowing young drivers to develop confidence and control at their own pace.
- Visit 1: Learn the fundamentals of manual driving, including clutch control, gear changes and vehicle handling.
- Visit 2: Apply your skills across grass, gravel and off-road terrain while taking on increasingly varied driving challenges.
- Visit 3 and beyond: Refine your technique through more advanced exercises, build confidence across a wider range of terrain and continue adding achievements to your personal logbook.

Timeless Land Rovers
Take the wheel of a classic Series IIA Land Rover, one of Britain's most iconic vehicles. With 11 Land Rovers in our fleet, you’ll experience their unmistakable character and capability as you learn how a vehicle behaves across different surfaces, delivering a memorable and adventurous drive.
Helpful Information
Participants must be aged 14 and over and at least 150cm tall to take part. No driving licence is required. All participants will receive a safety briefing before driving.
Designed for ages 14 and over, this experience provides a unique introduction to manual driving. Behind the wheel of a historic Series 2 Land Rover, participants will develop clutch control, gear-changing techniques and essential vehicle handling skills, building confidence and creating a strong foundation for future driving.
All driving sessions are delivered on a one-to-one basis with an experienced instructor, providing personalised coaching and support throughout the experience.
Every participant receives a Goodwood First Drives Logbook to keep. Bring it back on future visits to record new skills, complete challenges and work towards a Goodwood First Drives Certificate of Completion.
Allow approximately two and a half hours for your visit, including registration, briefing, one hour of driving tuition, simulator session and instructor debrief.
Family and friends are welcome to watch from designated viewing areas and are encouraged to bring cameras to capture the experience. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for driving and flat-soled footwear. Flip-flops, sandals and open-toe shoes are not permitted.
Dual controls - All vehicles are fitted and operated in accordance with Goodwood's safety procedures, with instructors maintaining full oversight throughout the experience.
The vehicles are covered by comprehensive accident insurance but this will not apply if you drive recklessly, dangerously or if you cause damage to yourself or anyone else. The person driving the car will be required to sign a disclaimer accepting liability in the event of damage being caused to the car through their negligence.
Driving may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions (e.g. snow, ice, heavy rain or high winds) which would make driving at speed dangerous. The booker will be contacted if there are any changes to the experience. Please call 01243 755055 if in any doubt.
