Insurance for Track Days at Goodwood
Driving on one of the world’s most famous and challenging circuits ignites passion and high-octane fun. It also holds hands with danger and exhilaration so we've partnered with Grove & Deane Motorsport Insurance to provide the best insurance options for our Track Days experience.
From Formula 1, Historic, to everyday road cars, there’s not much that Andy Hancock, Grove & Dean Motorsport Director, hasn’t insured on a race track. His personal dedication to motorsport oozes into his professional life, uniquely mixing business with pleasure on a very regular basis.
‘There’s not a part of motorsport insurance I haven’t been involved with’ he tells us. And with over 30 years of insurance experience under his race helmet, we’re not surprised.
Below, we have asked Andy some relevant questions that should make finding and buying insurance for your day on track that little bit easier.
Goodwood track days cater for everyone, from professional teams and drivers to the regular guy on the street fulfilling a dream, Grove & Dean Motorsport treats them no differently. With access to an array of covers to suit everyone, regardless of experience, you’ll find a track day (and obtaining insurance if that’s your choice) is open to all.
The first key point here is that you are insuring the re-build cost of the car, not the re-sale value. Whilst many people choose to insure the full value, lots don’t - particularly for higher values cars, where the policy holder can decide on the level of value to insure.
One consideration is that premiums are closely linked to the value insured. Therefore, most people choose a level of cover that would likely cover the most extreme repairs (e.g. a new chassis).
For example, if you wish to insure up to £10,000 worth of damage, you could expect to pay £120 per day. For higher sums insured, such as £100,000, it can be as much as £800 per day.
An important difference to regular car insurance is that there is no Third Party Liability meaning that you are responsible for any damage you cause to your vehicle, as well as any damage others may cause to your vehicle. This also means that if you drive into another participant, you are not liable for damage to their car.
If someone collides with your vehicle, Grove & Dean Track Day insurance policies cover that damage repair cost.
Mechanical faults are not covered by track day insurance but accident and/or fire damage as a result of an incident or mechanical failure is.
There are various ways to purchase track day insurance but Grove & Dean Motorsport Insurance have a simple buy-online journey at www.grove-dean-motorsport.com
It’s instant, reasonable and easy to buy, 24 hours a day, 7days a week.
If you have arrived at the Goodwood Motor Circuit with no cover, it’s not a problem. Having an instant buy online function allows drivers to purchase track day insurance usually within half an hour of the track opening.
