On 5th April five aircraft took to the air on the first Aero Club fly-out of the year to Cosford
APR 05th 2016
1st Fly Out of the year
The flight to Cosford took almost an hour and 20 minutes, departing from Goodwood. We flew over Petersfield, Swindon, Popham, Kemble, Gloucester, Worcester and Bridgewater before descending into Cosford. Our outbound journey saw some pesky low cloud over Petersfield, although once past Popham this cleared for a morning of smooth flying. The weather had cleared beautifully by the time of our return flight and Members were wowed by the magnificent site of Severn Bridge awash in rays of late afternoon sunshine.
The museum itself was a real treat, guided by Cosford’s fascinating and knowledgeable host, John. Members were taken through three Wartime Hangars including the National Cold War Exhibition. Each hanger housed more spectacular aircraft and history than the last, creating a powerful and move journey. A wonderful day was had by all, with us all excited for a return trip in the future.
