Driver Duncan Tappy takes time out for a quick Sprint6 at Festival of Speed
Tappy was joined by US-based golfer Lucy Robson, Golf At Goodwood junior Joe Sykes – who recently finished 2nd in the European Junior Champs in Scotland – and Eddie Bullock, former captain of the PGA and a non-executive Director of Golf At Goodwood.
The quartet enjoyed six holes in a four-ball, better ball matchplay format, with Sykes and Robson emerging victorious at 3&2. Tappy, who is a member at Goodwood, was able to quickly return to his duties on the Festival of Speed Hillclimb, with the match taking only one hour to complete.
The new Sprint6 game is being hosted at Goodwood and involves playing no nonsense golf, with the rules stating that each player has only 30 seconds to play their shot. Yellow and red card penalties are given to those who take longer than this allotted time to play their ball, but everyone is allowed two two-minute ‘time outs’ per game to allow for more challenging shots to be taken.
Tom Critchley, founder of Sprint 6 said; “There were representatives from different age groups playing this exhibition match and they all enjoyed it. The fast-paced format makes it fun for everyone. We wanted to play this game at Goodwood as it is one of the official courses for Sprint 6. Playing during the Festival of Speed was a good fit, as the emphasis is on speed.”
Wales international footballer and Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale is a Sprint 6 Ambassador, Formula 1 presenter Eddie Jordan is an investor while 2014 Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley and European Tour CEO Keith Pelley have shown their support for this exciting new initiative.
