Team Goodwood successes
Over Easter, our juniors had a great month individually, and that has continued in the West Sussex League as they are currently tied first with Bognor Regis Golf Club. They start their Alan Covey Cup journey on the 10 June against Haywards Heath.
Our Ladies teams are all still in the group stages, but all have had promising starts. Ladies Division 1 team are currently 2nd. The Division 2 team had a fantastic win at Crowborough Beacon on Sunday and a win at Pyecombe on Tuesday which sees them top their group, two points clear of Crowborough.
The division 3 team are currently two points clear of the other three teams which leaves them in a comfortable position. The division 4 team are currently 4th but are in a very tough league with two games left to play in the group stages.
In the Sussex Knockouts, it has been a mixed fortune for our teams. The Scratch Team are through to the third round of the Oliver’s Trophy after an away win against The Dyke Golf Club on Saturday 2 June.
The seniors were knocked out in the second round of the Cyril Blake Trophy by Seaford Head, and unfortunately, were knocked out of the first round of the Gilbert Print Plate against Slinfold with a narrow 2 ½ - 1 ½ defeat. The men ‘s team were knocked out of the Birchwood Trophy in the second round but were entered into the Birchwood Plate, where they had little success away at Cottesmore losing in the first round.
In the Annodata knockouts, the men won their first round match against Blackmoor and face South Winchester on Sunday 10 June. The ladies won their first round match against Chichester B, and their reward is a trip to Chichester A in the second round.
Overall, it has been a very promising start, good luck for the rest of the season! #teamgoodwood
