Friday Fireworks, '50s Fun & Frivolity

Held at the racecourse over three magical days, our enchanting 1950s-themed August Bank Holiday weekend rekindles the nostalgic Summer holidays of yesteryear to create the ultimate family day out. There’s a fabulous choice of entertainment available including live music and traditional fairground rides, as well as a spectacular fireworks display set to music on the Friday night. A favourite for all ages. Not to be missed.

Friday 26 August

The weekend kicks off in spectacular fashion with racing, followed by a spectacular fireworks display to music which will start at approximately 8.45pm. Choreographed by the company that designed the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, it’ll be our biggest and loudest display yet.

Add fire performers, stilt walkers, live music and a traditional funfair and you have the ingredients for an amazing night out.

Included in the evening, you can expect:

  • Six thrilling races, starting at 5.00pm.
  • Traditional fairground - including helter skelter, big wheel & carousel (Lennox Enclosure).
  • Rock 'n' Roll band after racing (Gordon Enclosure).
  • Batala drummers (Gordon Enclosure).
  • Fire performers and stilt walkers (Gordon Enclosure).
  • Fire pits and 'giant' lawn games at the Nyetimber Bar (Gordon Enclosure).
  • Spectacular fireworks display to music, starting at approximately 8.45pm.

Gates open at 3.30pm.

Race Times

Saturday 27 August

Saturday provides one of the season's undoubted highlights with the prestigious Group 2 Celebration Mile taking centre stage. There will be heaps of excitement around the racecourse with lots of activities that the whole family will love. With so much on offer this is one event most definitely not to be missed!

Included in the day, you can expect:

  • Seven thrilling races, starting at 2.10pm.
  • Traditional fairground - including helter skelter, big wheel & carousel (Lennox Enclosure).
  • Petting Farm - including a miniature pony, donkey, goat, duck, rabbit & chickens (Lennox Enclosure).
  • Face painters (Lennox Enclosure).
  • Circus tutors (Lennox Enclosure).
  • Punch & Judy (Lennox Enclosure).
  • Replica beach on the East Parade Lawn (Gordon Enclosure).
  • String Quartet on Double Trigger Lawn (Richmond Enclosure).
  • Jazz Band (Gordon Enclosure).
  • Rock 'n' Roll band after racing (Gordon Enclosure).

RACE TIMES

Sunday 28 August

Sunday = Funday at the Racecourse, the ideal opportunity to get together with friends and family to enjoy heaps of excitement in addition to seven thrilling races. There's so much on offer, including a host of complimentary children's entertainment and music acts for the not so little.

  • Seven thrilling races, starting at 2.05pm.
