Goodwood Racecourse is committed to safeguarding the well-being of all racegoers to ensure that the best possible day is had by all.
As part of this, we are committed to reducing any social harm caused by the excessive consumption of alcohol. Anyone deemed under the influence of drink or drugs will be refused admittance to the racecourse, which has a zero tolerance policy on drugs.
From the 2018 Festival of Food & Racing, and going forwards, we are also enhancing our existing security measures.
Police & Security
Sussex Police will now be present at every fixture throughout the season and all security response teams at the venue will wear high-visibility clothing.
Though drugs sniffer dogs have regularly been used at certain fixtures, they will now be in operation at every fixture and racegoers will be strongly encouraged to use the existing amnesty bins in place. Random bag searches will continue to be in place at all entrances and any racegoer found to be in possession of drugs inside the venue will be removed immediately.
4-Pint Rule & Hydration Stations
In line with other UK racecourses the ‘4-pint rule’ will now be actioned, meaning no-one can purchase more than four pints in the retail bars at any one time. There will also be Hydration Stations, with complimentary water available at every bar.
There is a 'Challenge 25' policy on the sale of alcohol at all racing fixtures. If you are lucky enough to look under the age of 25 please ensure you bring a valid form of ID.
We ask all racegoers to please drink responsibly and have a great day out.
