Front of House
The Kennels is delighted to annouce the appointment of Samantha Wild as our new Restaurant Manager.
Samantha, 24, brings a varied wealth of hospitality experience to her new position from both inside and outside of the kitchen.
“As soon as I stepped onto the Goodwood Estate, I was captivated. I was aware of Goodwood’s reputation and believe I have found the perfect role for me here at The Kennels. I hope to be here for a very long time,” said Samantha.
Samantha’s meteoric career has included being Britain’s youngest female head chef at the age of 19, when she worked at award-winning The Bladebone Inn in Bucklebury, Berkshire.
“I was privileged The Bladebone Inn’s owner was willing to take a chance on me and offered me the head chef position at such a young age. However, I had worked extremely hard and risen up through the ranks in the kitchen to be ready for the opportunity too,” she added.
Samantha started as an apprentice chef at Mya Lacarte, in Reading, which was co-owned by a previous winner of The Apprentice Yasmina Siadatan and her brother Matthew.
During her time at Mya Lacarte and The Bladebone Inn, Samantha also worked as an assistant home economist, working with celebrity chefs including James Martin and Tom Kerridge on BBC Good Food Shows and television cookery programmes.
When Samantha left Mya Lacarte she took up a position as a chef at the high profile Bladebone Inn.
“As my career progressed, I enjoyed spending time outside of the kitchen talking to the customers in the restaurant. I realised I wanted to move into a front of house position and luckily the owner did not try to clip my wings,” added Samantha.
Samantha stepped down from her role at The Bladebone Inn to complete her final year of a Culinary Arts Foundation Degree and went on to study a degree in Human Nutrition graduating with First Class Honours.
After working for a spell as a nutritionist in Brighton, Samantha was alerted to The Kennels restaurant manager’s job at Goodwood.
“I am looking forward to getting to know the members better and I am lucky to have strong assistant managers, who have been here a long time, to support me."
The Kennels' previous restaurant manager, Jamie Rockall, has been promoted to Operations Manager.
